Problem Statement: According to the 2014 CDC School Health Profiles, "Fewer than half of high schools and one fifth of middle schools teach all 16 topics of sexual health recommended by the CDC." These topics range from sexually transmitted diseases infection prevention, critical communication and decision making skills. Many parents and educators are concerned that important topics like sexual health and well-being are being overlooked. With the recent increase in online learning, Sex Education's goal is to increase communication about sexual health between teens/young adults and their parents.
User Needs: It is important to understand and explore what sexual health means. Teenagers and young adults need a safe space to explore sexual identity and health; parents must be involved. Our main target audience will be young adults ranging from 14-22 years old.
Product Goals: Sex Education will be an interactive application designed for iPhones and iPads. It will encourage open communication, sex positivity, and decision making skills. The application will also address LGBTQ+ identities, safe ways to come out, relationships, testing, and HIV/AIDS.
